NEW REPORT
KEY TRENDS FOR THE GCC CFO IN 2022
We are now two years into a pandemic; our personal and professional lives fundamentally changed by it, and this continues to impact how we work and how we interact
Thomson Reuters, in collaboration with the MEA Business Group, undertook a research study that sought to explore both how CFO’s based in the GCC have adapted to a new post-pandemic reality and how they see their roles evolving through 2022 and beyond.
At the end of 2021 MEA Business Group surveyed 150 finance leaders: CFO’s from leading GCC headquartered companies and Regional CFO’s of (mainly western) multi-national corporations with headquarters outside the GCC.
Survey respondents were predominantly based in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (approximately 85% of respondents) with the remainder based in Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Respondents came from a wide range of industries and with annual revenues ranging from under 10 million dollars to over 10 billion dollars with a median revenue of just over 250 million dollars.
B2B, B2C and B2G sectors are all represented in the survey results. CFO’s of GCC based family-owned enterprises with diverse business interests, particularly in the construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and retail sectors, make up the majority of respondents in the “other” industry category in our survey results.
